This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

Hours are published for 3 days a week. The most common schedule is 11:30 am–5:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Hungry Vegan at (912) 210-3225; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.9 out of 5 from 511 reviews, which is a strong result for a vegetarian in Savannah and suggests consistent service.

Savannah is in Georgia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Savannah is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Georgia's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Came here to visit from Atlanta and was beyond impressed and satisfied with the food and service. We got the Big vegan with the fried oysters mushrooms, mac n cheese, collards, quinoa, and cornbread. Everything was so yummy we came back the next day for more food for the road. The two ladies working at the front were super sweet and helpful. Definitely stop by and try the peach cobbler. I remembered to take a photo only after having a few bites first so the portions are slightly larger than the pictures I have here.

Southern comfort food, but vegan! Everything was DELICIOUS. The lima beans and macaroni and cheese tasted just like Sunday dinner with family in my childhood. The service was great and every order of the crispy fried mushrooms and cauliflower is made fresh. I also had greens, and cornbread, these southern staples were so good!! When things slowed down I got a chance to talk to the ladies who brought such joy to my tummy and they were full with wisdom and kindness. I felt like my body and soul were fed there. I've been to vegan restaurants all over the world and this one is an instant fave, can't wait to come back. *Don't skip the cobbler!!! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Love this place!!! Took the full plate with the peach cobbler for dessert. The mac n cheese, okra, collards and especially the oyster mushrooms were delicious! Service was warm and friendly and the portions were generous so I had leftovers to go. Thank you for blessing Savannah with your soul food. 🩷

Found this gem on Happy Cow. The food is fantastic authentic soul food. Love the food, love the people both customers and staff. Everyone enjoys the food and atmosphere so much that it strikes up great conversations with all. Enjoyed eating there each week while we were on vacation. We entered as customers and left as friends. Will dearly be miss until we return.

What was not to love? I'm not plant based but the food was chef's kiss. Everything was seasoned to perfection and the portions were incredible. I indulged myself in the collards, black eyed peas, mac and cheese (even ordered some to go) and the fried mushroom (yes please). The ladies there make you feel welcomed and it feels more like being invited to dinner than a restaurant. Hungry Vegan exceeded my expectations 100 times over. Ohhhh and how did I forget the peach cobbler?! Looking forward to my next visit.
